Plantar fasciitis, is very common, affecting 1 in 10 people at some point in their lives, it is the most common type of foot pain requiring doctor and podiatrist visits. It is caused by an inflammation of the band of tissue (the plantar fascia) that extends from the heel to the toes, where the fascia becomes irritated, then inflamed, resulting in heel pain.
Usually, the pain will ease in time. 'Fascia' tissue, like 'ligament' tissue, heals quite slowly. It may take several months or more to go.
To ease the pain during the healing process, and reduce the risk of recurrence; footwear with shock absorption in the heel and good arch support is recommended.
There are a variety of treatments available from ice packs, foam rollers and straps to exercises and stretches but wearing appropriate footwear can make a huge difference to recovery times and everyday comfort.
The 'AWP', ‘Dynamic’ and 'Oxyva' recovery shoes have a shock-absorbing heel and arch support built in – making them an excellent solution without the need for inserts. Each of these styles offers postural support, helping to hold the foot in position, supporting the skeletal structure of the legs, hips and spine. This also makes them very effective in treating leg, hip or back pain.
The key elements to look for in footwear for anyone suffering from or recovering from plantar fasciitis are good shock absorption and postural support.
Good shock absorption disperses some of the force of heel striking when walking, and pressure while standing. A shoe with good postural support, such as the AWP (pictured) and Dynamic styles with their patented footbed help to hold the foot in the correct position, as well as encouraging good posture. For the wider foot, the fully-compliant ‘Oxyva’ by Oxypas is also an excellent choice.
In addition to the treatment and relief of plantar fasciitis, our customers advise us that the AWP, Dynamic and Oxyva shoes are also effective in reducing the symptoms of a variety of other common aches and pains.
If you would prefer to go down the route of an insole to treat and ease the symptoms of plantar fasciitis and other leg and back pains. We now stock the 'Enertor' insoles, as endorsed by Usain Bolt.
The Enertor insole was designed by leading podiatrists for superior lower limb pain relief including foot, heel, ankle. knee, hip and back.
Like the recovery footwear mentioned above, the Enteror insole helps to reduce many common injuries such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and achilles tendonitis. Proven to reduce foot and heel pain for over 91% of wearers and proven to help heal 75% of those with Plantar Fasciitis.
The patented D30 shock absorption material's flexible resting state cushions the foot. On impact, it locks together to absorb and disperse energy. The comfort and protection are proportional to the stress applied, so they work well with all body weights.
Enertor insoles are the only insoles worn and endorsed by 8-time Olympic champion and World record holder, Usain Bolt. They played a crucial role in helping him to stay injury free during training.
